Jammu, Sep 21 (KNO): Lieutenant General Mohit Seth will take over as the General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) of the strategically important White Knight Corps, also known as XVI Corps, at Nagrota in Jammu on October 1.
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Lieutenant General Seth will succeed Lieutenant General P K Mishra, who will move to a new assignment. The formal change of command will take place during a baton handing ceremony.
Lt Gen Seth is presently serving as the Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT), the Indian Army's training establishment in Bhutan. He will assume command of the formation after serving in a number of important operational and staff appointments.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and National Defence College (NDC), Lt Gen Seth was commissioned into the 3 Madras Regiment in 1991. He has also served as the Indian Army Liaison Officer at the High Commission of India in the United Kingdom and commanded the Counter-Insurgency Force Kilo in Kashmir.
The appointment will mark Lt Gen Seth's return to a key operational role in Jammu and Kashmir, where the White Knight Corps is responsible for a large area covering the region south of the Pir Panjal range, stretching towards the plains of Jammu and Akhnoor.
The corps is tasked with guarding the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC), besides conducting counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and the erstwhile Doda district, officials said.
Lt Gen Mishra had assumed command of the XVI Corps on April 1, 2025, succeeding Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva. Before taking over the corps, he had served as the Commandant of IMTRAT in Bhutan.
During his tenure, Lt Gen Mishra was recently awarded the prestigious Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) by President Droupadi Murmu at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 (Phase-II). He is also a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) and Seva Medal (SM).
Lt Gen Seth had taken over as the IMTRAT Commandant from Lt Gen Mishra, who was earlier serving in the same appointment before moving to command the White Knight Corps—(KNO)
